A new program in business was approved last week by the Clatsop Community College Board of Education. The Associate of Science Transfer (AST) in Business is now available for students who study business at CCC and allow for easier transferability from the community college to a 4-year college to pursue a baccalaureate level degree. CCC has previously been offering an Associate of Science Oregon Transfer (ASOT) in Business that does not provide as clear of a path in mathematics courses for ease of transfer. With the AST degree, math statistics courses will be offered to compliment the content of the business course material.
Business Instructor Carla Moha believes this addition to the business offerings at Clatsop Community College will benefit students in their educational journey and commented, “I am excited to offer this new Associate of Science Transfer Degree in Business which gives students the opportunity to study a wider range of business classes locally before transferring on to a 4-year business degree program.”
This past year Carla attended statewide meetings addressing transferability between community colleges and universities. 4-year university business department representatives were active participants in the planning of this degree in which there was widespread support for the AST degree amongst all constituents in Oregon throughout the planning phases of launching the AST.
