Annual CCC Art Student Show Opens May 18th
Clatsop Community College Art Department is proud to announce that the Annual Art Student Show will be on display in the Royal Nebeker Gallery from May 18 through June 9, 2023. The community is invited to a reception on Thursday, May 18 at 6 pm to celebrate the accomplishments of Clatsop Community College’s art students. During the reception, cash prizes and award winners will be announced and the juror will be present at the reception to give a juror’s talk.
The CCC Art Student Show is an annual juried event that showcases artwork created in the various art courses offered at the college during the past two academic years, including graphic design, basic design, drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and printmaking. CCC studio art instructors are Richard Rowland (Ceramics), David Homer (Photography and Graphic Design), Ben Rosenberg (Printmaking), and Kristin Shauck (Drawing, Painting, and Basic Design).
This year’s exhibition is particularly noteworthy, as it will be juried by Keri Rosebraugh, whose wealth of experience and international reputation make her the perfect choice for this role. Rosebraugh is an Oregon native who currently lives and works in both Marnay Sur Seine, France and Los Angeles, California. She earned an MFA in Florence, Italy and is the co-director of L’Expressoir Artist Residency in Marnay Sur Seine, France. Exhibiting around the world, she has public art pieces on display in Los Angeles, California; Svalbard, Norway; Gearhart, Oregon; Baker, Oregon and Paris, France. Her artwork is included in permanent collections at the Museo de Arte Contemporanea di Florina in Greece and the Hermann Nitsch Museum in Naples, Italy, and most recently, in the courtyard of the Royal Nebeker Gallery at Clatsop Community College.
This year’s student show promises to be an exciting and inspiring showcase of emerging talent, with Rosebraugh’s unique perspective and discerning eye guiding the selection process. Visitors will have the opportunity to view thought-provoking and visually striking pieces, each one a reflection of the unique vision and skill of the student artist who created it.
The Royal Nebeker Gallery is very grateful to Domino’s Pizza, Fred Meyers, and Walmart for their generous support of this event.
