Kevin LaCoste Appointed as Interim President of Clatsop Community College

Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin LaCoste as the Interim President of the institution. With a successful 32-year career in finance and banking, LaCoste brings a wealth of expertise in leadership, business management, and operations to the college to help foster a collaborative environment that will aid the greater CCC community through this period of transition.

LaCoste holds a strong commitment to the success of the community and the college. When asked about his new role, LaCoste expressed his enthusiasm and belief in the potential of Clatsop Community College: “I am passionate about education and strongly believe in the transformative power of learning. Clatsop Community College has everything necessary to be one of the finest community colleges in the state, and I look forward to the challenge and opportunity of the Interim President position.”

As the Interim President, LaCoste will work closely with the college community to address the evolving needs and aspirations of Clatsop Community College. His collaborative approach and vision for excellence will guide the college towards achieving its goals and fostering an environment of academic success. Both LaCoste and the board acknowledge he is new to the world of community colleges and higher education but will be able to tap into the expertise of administration, faculty, and staff at the college to ensure any decisions are made with full understanding of the implications for students, faculty, staff and the greater CCC community.

CCC Board of Education Chair, Trudy Citovic, sees LaCoste as having the right qualities to lead the college through the transitional period. On selecting LaCoste for interim, she stated, “The consensus of the board was that LaCoste brings several critical skillsets to the table.  Kevin is a well-respected local leader, having been involved in the community for two decades.  He brings a fresh set of eyes and ears, from which he can build trust among the various groups on and off campus.  He has a proven track record of leadership and mentorship, not only in his role as Regional President for US Bank where he oversaw a team of over 250 employees, but also in a wide variety of civic engagements. The board felt Kevin had the right combination of leadership experience, fresh thinking, and commitment to the local community to guide CCC through this period of transition. “

The Board of Education is currently finalizing the contract for the interim position and will be developing a plan and timeline for the search for a permanent president of the CCC.
