Clatsop Community College Announces 2024 Art Student Award Winners

Clatsop Community College Art Department is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 2024 Annual Art Student Show, which was on exhibit in the Royal Nebeker Gallery from May 16 to June 7, 2024. The opening reception, held on May 16, was a celebration of all the art students’ accomplishments, featuring a presentation of cash prizes and awards, along with a special talk by this year’s juror, Elise Wagner.

The CCC Art Student Show featured a juried selection of artworks created by art students over the past two years in courses taught in the art program, including graphic design, basic design, drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and printmaking. The art faculty includes Ben Rosenberg (Printmaking), David Homer (Photography and Graphic Design), Brad Menninga (Ceramics), and Kristin Shauck (Drawing, Painting, and Basic Design).

This year’s juror, Elise Wagner, who recently relocated to Astoria from Portland, is a respected painter, printmaker, and educator. Her work explores the intersections of art, science, and technology. Elise has received numerous accolades, including the Pollock Krasner Foundation Award, and grants from the Ford Family Foundation and Oregon Arts Commission. Her recent exhibitions include solo shows at Frederick Holmes & Company in Seattle and group shows at Alex Ferrone Gallery in New York and Imogen Gallery in Astoria.

The 2024 Art Student Show offered an immersive and visually engaging showcase of student talent, selected by Elise’s unique perspective and discerning eye. Visitors experienced a diverse range of compelling artworks that reflected the distinct vision and skill of our student artists.
