Annual CCC Student Art Show Opens May 19th

Clatsop Community College is delighted to announce that the Annual Student Art Show will be on display in the Royal Nebeker Gallery from May 19 through June 10, 2022. The community is invited to a reception the evening of May 19 at 6 pm to celebrate the accomplishments of Clatsop Community College’s art students. During the reception, cash prizes and award winners will be announced and the juror will be present at the reception to give a juror’s talk.

The CCC Art Student Show is an annual juried event that showcases artwork created in the various art courses offered at the college during the past two academic years, including graphic design, basic design, drawing, painting, ceramics, photography and printmaking. CCC studio art instructors are Richard Rowland (Ceramics), Lucien Swerdloff (Graphic Design), David Homer (Photography), Ben Rosenberg (Printmaking), and Kristin Shauck (Drawing, Painting, and Basic Design).

Serving as the juror for this year’s show is local painter and inflatable sculpture artist Paul Polson. Paul was raised in Wyoming and has been practicing art from an age. Paul received his Arts degree from the University of Wyoming, and has spent time in California and Washington developing giant inflatable creations for parades, movies, theater productions and promotions. In 2018, Polson moved to Astoria to concentrate on his painting, where he works in a layered, “strata” style, revealing foundations, structures, pipes and plumbing into landscapes and local observations. Paul’s gallery and studio, along with his dog Joey, can be found at 100 10th St in Astoria.

The Royal Nebeker Gallery is very grateful to Domino’s Pizza, Walmart, and Dairy Maid for their generous support of this event.

The gallery exhibit is free and open to the public during the limited hours of 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Monday through Friday. The CCC Royal Nebeker Gallery is ADA accessible and located at 1799 Lexington Avenue in Astoria.
