Astoria, OR- On Tuesday, May 4th, the Clatsop Community College Budget Committee, composed of CCC Board Members and members from the community, met to review the proposed budget for fiscal year 2021-22. All aspects of the budget were reviewed with a focus on enrollment challenges and projections for the coming year. Key points of the proposed budget show similar financial support from the State and timber revenue and an estimated 4% increase from property taxes. No tuition or fee increases are currently being proposed.
During the meeting, enrollment projections for the upcoming year look to be climbing from the significant dip of the past year, but are not yet back to the pre-COVID levels. Estimates for the upcoming year project Full-Time Enrollment (FTE) at 1050, up from 950 FTE this past year.
President Chris Breitmeyer remains optimistic as we approach more normal college offerings this fall term, “The proposed budget has CCC on sound fiscal footing, allowing for continued excellence in instruction and service to our students.”
The proposed budget will be presented for adoption to the College’s Board of Education at the June 8th board meeting for review and vote for approval. There will be an opportunity for public comments as part of the process. The new budget takes effect on July 1, 2021.
