Clatsop Community College and the Fort George Brewery are pleased to announce the final event in our 2018-19 Ales & Ideas community lectures. Kick off Astoria Pride weekend by attending a panel presentation ofrepresentatives from the local LGBTQ community. Thursday, June 6th, 2019 hosts Pride & Prejudice: The Road to LGBTQ Rights, moderated by CCC’s Deac Guidi, with panelists Mindy Stokes, Jeralyn O’Brien, Louise Garner, and Gad Perez. Doors open with food and beverage service at 6pm. Seasonal beers on tap, food and other beverages are available for purchase, but no purchase is required. The Fort George Lovell Showroom is located at 14th and Duane St. in Astoria. Minors are welcome.
When Same-Sex Marriage was passed by the Supreme Court in 2016, many thought the landmark legislation would be the last step in what seemed to be a rapid progression of rights for America’s LGBTQ community; however, recent history suggests we still have a long way to go. Join CCC faculty and friends for a panel discussion on the past, present and future of equality for the LGBTQ community. Come listen, learn, or ask questions as Mindy, Jeralyn, Louise, Gad, and Deac promote Harvey Milk’s theme of hope while examining other hard-fought battles of our nation’s LGBTQ community.
