Two electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the Upper Columbia Hall parking lot at Clatsop Community College in Astoria. Four vehicles will be able to charge at once with one dual station rapid charger, and a two-station level 2 charger.
Installation of the charging stations was made possible through a $58,400 grant from Pacific Power for the purchase, installation and a 5-year management contract of the stations. Community support was crucial to securing the grant and with the letters of support from Mayor Bruce Jones of Astoria and the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners, CCC was able to secure the grant successfully.
“These stations support the colleges vision of environmental stewardship, sustainability and community partnership in the livability of our community,” Shaun Martin, CCC Physical Plant Director said. “We’re excited to provide free charging.”
Plugging in will be free for staff, faculty, students, and the general public. The 4 parking spaces in front of the stations are dedicated for parking for charging, and only while charging. Charge stations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
