Clatsop Community College Welcomes Beth van Elswyk as New Foundation Director

Clatsop Community College is thrilled to announce and welcome Beth van Elswyk as the new Foundation Director. With her deep-rooted commitment to fostering educational access and community engagement, Beth will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Clatsop Community College Foundation: to inspire and engage the community in support of CCC students, empowering them to achieve their goals.

Beth grew up in Pennsylvania and has called Astoria home for nearly a decade. A graduate of Mansfield University, she has built a distinguished career as an entrepreneur, business strategist, and advisor. Her passion for lifelong learning has been shaped by her continuing adult education in TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), Matsushita Management, and Peter Drucker’s principles. These experiences have guided her toward roles that foster innovation, inclusivity, and opportunities for all.

Beth is no stranger to community involvement. She serves on the Wauna Credit Union Board, is active in the Astoria Rotary (including ADRAG—Alzheimer’s/Dementia Rotary Action Group), and is a member of 100 Women of Clatsop County. She is also a dedicated volunteer with local chamber associations and will serve as the college’s AAUW representative.

Known for her collaborative spirit and innovative thinking, Beth thrives on developing strategies that promote diversity, inclusion, and data-driven decision-making. She is passionate about building bridges that create new and expanded access to education for students in the region.

Beth’s personal life is just as vibrant as her professional endeavors. She enjoys golfing and painting, particularly Highland Cows, and shares her life with her wife, Amy Jo Spunaugle, an educator at Pacific Elementary School, and their two rescue terriers, Delilah and Dharma. Together, they are dedicated to making a positive impact on students and families throughout Clatsop County.

“Beth’s focus on fostering connections within the community aligns perfectly with our mission to support students and strengthen our relationships with current and future donors.,” said CCC Foundation Board President Jamey Hendricks, “With her strong commitment to community engagement and innovative strategies, we are confident that she will elevate our foundation to new heights.”

Please join us in welcoming Beth van Elswyk to Clatsop Community College as she begins this exciting new chapter.
