College Board Positions Seeking Candidates

Four positions on the Clatsop Community College Board of Education will be voted for on the May 16th Clatsop County ballot with elections for all zones of the county.  Two current board members have indicated they are choosing not to run for another term while two other board members whose terms end this year will be running for re-election alongside anyone who chooses to put their name in for the positions.

Karen Burke, who represents Zone 1 on the board which covers the Jewell, Knappa, and Westport areas of the county, is choosing not to run again. Karen has served on the board since 2014.

Nicole Williams at the February board meeting indicated that she may not run for her board position that expires this year. She currently represents Zone 2 which includes Astoria, John Day, Lewis & Clark, and Olney areas. Nicole was appointed to the CCC board just last year to replace a previous board member who did not finish their term.

Tim Lyman, representing Zone 3 which covers Cannon Beach, Seaside, Gearhart and Warrenton areas has declared his intention to run for his seat again on the board. Tim is finishing his first four-year term this year.

Along with Tim, Jody Stahancyk also representing Zone 3 has declared her intention to run. Jody was appointed in 2021 to finish out the term of Suzanne Iverson after her passing.

Board of Education members Rosemary Baker-Monaghan (Zone 3), Sara Meyer (Zone 2), and Trudy Van Dusen Citovic (Zone 2) remain on the board with their terms in effect till 2025.

All interested candidates for Board of Education positions file declarations of candidacy directly to the Clatsop County Clerk and Elections office. The deadline to submit application materials is March 16th. CCC Board of Education positions are 4-year terms and start July 1 of their elected year.
