Starting in March, Clatsop Community College will offer two new Workforce Training Courses in the field of leadership: Intro to Leadership and Management and The Fundamentals of Coaching: Baseball and Softball. Both courses will be taught by Dave Gasser, Oregon’s winningest baseball coach and seasoned educator.
Ideal for the nonprofit struggling to articulate their vision or the small business owner looking to budget and staff their growing business, Intro to Leadership and Management will dive into the processes of planning, budgeting, staffing, measuring performance, and the mindset and habits of effective leaders. Students will leave with the confidence to inspire and motivate others, and the tools to navigate the obstacles of management.
And, just in time for youth baseball, Fundamentals of Coaching: Baseball and Softball is designed to help youth coaches work successfully with young athletes. This course is an excellent opportunity to learn effective lesson planning skills, communication techniques, and coaching methods to improve the fundamental skill levels of all athletes.
Both courses are taught by seasoned coaching vet Dave Gasser. Gasser may be best known to locals as the high school baseball coach with the most-ever wins in the state of Oregon, but he’s also a highly experienced educator, with over 35 years in teaching and administration. Gasser has taught at the high school and college level, including time at Warner Pacific College, George Fox University, Concordia University, and Portland State University.
