Rain Magazine would like to announce that submissions are now open for its 53rd annual issue. Community members are encouraged to submit their original work by February 15, 2023.
Rain Magazine has been published by the students and faculty of Clatsop Community College since 1969 and aims to showcase the best art and literature produced on the Lower Columbia and beyond. This year’s issue will feature a special section on “Music.” Contributors are encouraged to explore this subject however they interpret it, literally or figuratively.
All general submissions of art, fiction, poetry and nonfiction will be also considered.
Please submit no more than three items total, including poems, photographs, high-quality (at least 300 dpi) digital images of original artwork and prose less than 5,000 words in length. Make sure to label your work by its appropriate genre (poetry, fiction, nonfiction) in a cover letter or on the manuscript.
The ability to print color is limited, so artists submitting color images should indicate if the image may appear in black and white. Include name, address, phone number, email, title, medium and a two-to-three-line biography with all entries.
Email work to rainmagazine@clatsopcc.edu. Include your full name and contact information along with genres and titles of submissions in the subject line of your email message. Submissions without proper contact information cannot be considered. Email submissions are greatly preferred. RTF or Docx is the preferred format for written work. TIFF or JPG files (at least 300 dpi) are preferred for artwork.
You can also mail submissions to Rain Magazine, Clatsop Community College, 1651 Lexington Ave., Astoria, OR, 97103.
Rain Magazine accepts tax-deductable donations year round at the address above and has back issues for sale if still available.
Every year the magazine is produced by the Writing 270: Literary Publications class, which includes instruction in editing and Adobe InDesign, the industry standard for book design. Time and place will soon be available in Clatsop Community College’s Winter 2023 Class Schedule.
