There are many ways to earn and use college credit. Some students who have taken classes at other schools are able to convert those prior credits to CCC credit. Other students might have past work experience that can be used to earn college credit. Whether all or part of your college credit is earned directly on CCC’s campus, staff are determined to help you build on your past personal and professional experiences to help you graduate.

Bringing credit from one Oregon community college to another is often a straightforward process: staff in the Registrar’s Office at a student’s new school simply checks for an equivalent class and awards them the new credit. The linked tables below—grouped by subject area—outline these equivalent classes for Oregon community colleges.
Please note, however, that this system of honoring credit from other community colleges is subject to change from year to year. Q: What grade do I need to have earned in a class at my previous school to be eligible for CCC transfer credit?
A: You must have earned a C- or better. Pass or Satisfactory grades from your previous school are also transferable.
Q: What types of classes from my previous school are eligible for transfer credit at CCC?
A: We often award transfer credit for 100- and 200-level college classes. Coursework from 300- and 400-level classes is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Q: If I’m not seeking a degree at CCC, can I still be awarded transfer credits from time spent at my previous school?
A: Yes, but in these situations we typically only award the transfer credit needed to meet specific prerequisites for classes you’re taking at CCC.
Q: How can I check to see that my transfer credit has been awarded?
A: After we finish evaluating your transfer credit request, your Degree Audit will show your successfully transferred credit. Your Degree Audit will be automatically sent to your school email address.
Q: Why are some of my transfer courses listed as 9999, 199, 100T or 200T in my Degree Audit?
A: If there isn’t an equivalent course at CCC, we assign that credit a label of 9999, 199, 100T or 200T in the closest subject area. Often, these courses still meet specific CCC degree requirements. If the designation is 9999, it is a Career Technical course.
Q: Do my transferred grades affect my GPA?
A: Good question. Transfer grades are not included in your GPA on CCC transcripts.
All of those acronyms hint at one important truth about CCC students: many of them take different types of accelerated classes before they arrive on our campus, and some students might have earned specific certifications or spent time in the military.
AP, IB, and CLEP
If you have Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credits, please see the following charts for how your credits can be applied at CCC:
Please note: For AP, IB, or CLEP credit, we will need official transcripts from either the IBO or College Board. We will not be able to accept these credits from your high school transcripts alone.

Military JST
The Joint Services Transcript (JST) that military service members receive can be used to attain college credit. Students with a JST can earn up to 24 credits at CCC. All JST-related credits appear as a Pass grade on student transcripts. Recruit Training translates to a minimum of three Physical Education credits.

It is possible to earn transfer credit at CCC from courses you have taken at a non-U.S. university or college, but that credit must be evaluated by an outside agency first. Students must choose an agency from The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) to carry out this evaluation and verify that the non-U.S. school and the class you took there are equivalent to a regionally accredited U.S. school and coursework it offers.
Once this completed evaluation is sent to CCC, staff will review it and make a determination about transferring credit.
The student is responsible for any cost associated with a NACES evaluation.
